When Cozumel came to us in early 2012, they were a “forgotten” island looking for a strategic marketing partner who could help them re-brand the destination and distinguish it from other Mexican and Caribbean destinations. Our strategy was to focus on the rich Mayan culture, crystal clear turquoise waters and pristine, natural beauty of Cozumel to recreate the opportunity of building a luxury-focused island escape with less density than luxury sister-resorts in the adjacent Riviera Maya and Cancun and the Caribbean. Already, we are seeing our efforts starting to pay off with Auberge Resorts now planning to build a hotel and upscale real estate development on the island with other development interest from Donald Trump.
