Since 1976, Pelican has been developing products that offer rugged protection for professionals that need their high-tech and sensitive gear to survive extreme conditions such as the military, fire departments, law enforcement, journalists/cameramen, etc. They had developed a core (B2B) audience that trusted the “brand” to protect gear no matter where they go or what they do. And over the last two years, Pelican made a move into “durable” consumer goods, in particular phone cases, where protection has also been the focus of the brand. The success of this campaign led to a desire to generate greater awareness and growth on the consumer side with not only phone/tablet cases, but also luggage and coolers. Our multi-million dollar success with this initial campaign led Pelican to create a Consumer Products Division and develop a CPD brand to work as an over arching strategy for all existing consumer products that now include coolers, luggage and gun cases. The launch for these three consumer segments has been just as successful.
